catholics are not evil, but some of the official doctrine of the Roman church is. As for catholics compiling and keeping scripture if that were true I would not trust it. However scripture is breathed inspired chosen and protected by the Holy Spirit and I trust Him with all my being.

Any “religion” whose doctrine is extra-Biblical is a cult. That’s basically the defining attribute of a cult. Stick to the Bible; everything else is stuff made up by some guys.
