While changing traditions, one that needs to go is having a queen or king.
There are times when the Queen really needs to be something other than “Elizabeth the Silent”, and object, or intervene. This appears to be one of them.
But after a lifetime of NOT interfering, I’m afraid she can’t break the habit.
And that will mean the end of the usefulness of the residual powers of the monarchy; and so of the monarchy itself.
