One thing to keep in mind is that the word “generation” you keep referring to is not the English word “generation”. In english, we mainly use that word in the modern day in one sense, but the Greek and Hebrew versions of the word have multiple connotations that the English word doesn’t convey, and the Bible certainly uses those other meanings in some passages (for example, every time a geneology is given, it is prefaced with “these are the generations of ...”, a usage that is not natural to a modern English speaker). In other passages, it refers to an age or epoch of time, and in other passages, a nation.

Of Strongs referenced word G1704 γενεά geneá, ghen-eh-ah'; from (a presumed derivative of) G1085; a generation; by implication, an age (the period or the persons):—age, generation, nation, time. Now with a little reverse engineering: Time - so it would be in the same relative time frame Nation - it would befall that nation (no mention of another) Generation - See Time (indicates relative Time Frame) Age (an Age) - This without a QUALIFIER refers to current relative time frame. This word without a qualifier (Distant, Future, etc.) cannot be surmised to contain one. Context: The Sign of Jonah - Mat 24 38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” ______________ Qualifier "WE" (those being spoke to) and "SEE" (wanted a Sign that THEY could see) from "YOU" the one who was speaking. ______________ 39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! If God's WWORD doesn't make sense then it is our understanding that is lacking. We are warned....to Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
