One thing to keep in mind is that the word “generation” you keep referring to is not the English word “generation”. In english, we mainly use that word in the modern day in one sense, but the Greek and Hebrew versions of the word have multiple connotations that the English word doesn’t convey, and the Bible certainly uses those other meanings in some passages (for example, every time a geneology is given, it is prefaced with “these are the generations of ...”, a usage that is not natural to a modern English speaker). In other passages, it refers to an age or epoch of time, and in other passages, a nation.

Here’s a link to a reference on this particular Greek word and all the meanings and ways it has been translated in the KJV, you can see that the context is very important when considering how that word is being used:

Good for you, I too am a great fan of Blue Letter Bible. Of Strongs referenced word G1704 γενεά geneá, ghen-eh-ah'; from (a presumed derivative of) G1085; a generation; by implication, an age (the period or the persons):—age, generation, nation, time. Now with a little reverse engineering: Time - so it would be in the same relative time frame Nation - it would befall that nation (no mention of another) Generation - See Time (indicates relative Time Frame) Age (an Age) - This without a QUALIFIER refers to current relative time frame. This word without a qualifier (Distant, Future, etc.) cannot be surmised to contain one. Context: The Sign of Jonah - Mat 24 38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” ______________ Qualifier "WE" (those being spoke to) and "SEE" (wanted a Sign that THEY could see) from "YOU" the one who was speaking. ______________ 39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ______________ Here is another fine example that Good Friday is a myth. # Day and 3 Nights cannot mean Friday evening to Sunday morning. It does not fit. ______________ 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here. ______________ The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah's proclamation, and look--something greater than Jonah is here! The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment and condemn the people living today, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah - Luke 11:32 Who performed the judgment? The men of Nineveh because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. With what Generation? The CURRENT generation at that time Who did they judge? The people living in that day, ______________ Mat 24:13-14 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When was the Gospel preached to the end of the world? Paul writes that the faith of the Romans “is being proclaimed throughout the whole world.” Paul uses the Greek word kosmos. It’s important for students of the Bible to understand how global language is often used to describe non-global events. Romans 1:8 fulfills what Jesus said would happen before that generation passed away (Matt. 24:34). The Scriptures give witness to itself. If God's WWORD doesn't make sense then it is our understanding that is lacking. We are warned....to Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
