I think he means he doesn’t understand what Catholic Caucus means. It is also possible that he is, for Freepdom, a weird sort of Catholic, who loves the Bible and the Pope and sees the two as entirely compatible.
General Issue party line for Catholic Caucus (though we do allow deviation) is we love our idea of the Church and do not see that as at all incompatible with a general loathing of the majority of the things associated with the Holy Father.
