Anita was one of the first top tier performers who lost their career to the angry mobs of Political Correctness. This happened long before PC was even called PC. It was an early lesson in how many gays of that time would declare someone a villain and others would immediately, passionately buy into that unproved belief. It was an early lesson in special interest lobbying.
I never heard any other singer speak of her at all since then.

“How Great Thou Art” is a favorite among Methodists, but it almost didn’t get into the Methodist hymnal due to its having been popularized by the evangelist Billy Graham. Seems the Methodist bigwigs didn’t want to include in their hymnal a song associated with the unwashed rabble who attended Graham’s crusades.

My favorite Anita Bryant hit, from the fall of 1960.

One of the Lucky Ones

One of my favorite versions of "How Great Thou Art," composed by Carl Gustav Boberg, a businessman and evangelist, who was inspired to write it in 1885 after experiencing a thunderstorm in his hometown of Mönsterås, Sweden.

O Store Gud (oh, powerful God, aka How Great Thou Art)--Artur Erikson
