Just in the nick of time. Wouldn’t want to charge Sinator Willard the Rat with fornicating the voters of Utah.

Fascinating, since Utah’s delegate seeking statehood (1890) had to sit through a very strong speech by a Senator objecting to Utah’s LDS celestial (plural) marriage....
and, given that the Senator was well-known for his frequent visits to the local whorehouse (one of several serving Congress),
the delegate famously observed that...”at least when I bed them, I wed them”
Utah’s admission to statehood was approved after the Church President Wilford Woodruff issued a Manifesto ending that form of marital institution (originally revealed by Bringham Young, who reportedly had 55 wives; Woodruff had reportedly 10 or 12, not all at once...)

Polygyny optional. Or polyandry, depending upon the case.

Seriously, 32 senators opposed it? Hey gay marriage is legal in Utah (against the will of the populace) so punishing straight people for being as immoral with criminal penalties just seems unfair.
I guess there are many Utahns who believe in a theocracy.

Wife #3 looks so young, a teenage girl? Though if she’s 18 or older, she’s legally an adult.
To: marshmallow
None of this really matters, because such laws banning fornication are unenforceable anyway.
