Also, the number of seminarians is falling, while the number of bishops is growing.

And Francis complains about clericalism.
Ping
Number of Catholics falling also. Tragic, but that’s what happens when an illicit Pope caves on virtually all moral and cultural issues.
This problem goes back to John XXIII at least, maybe even under Pius XII.
Of course it’s only snowballed since then.
Same thing has happened among Jews and Protestants.
Reduce the rigor of faith, especially among the clergy, and things gradually fall apart from there. The fruit of this is everywhere to be seen.
McCarrick played a huge role in this as well.
What young man wants to enter the seminary only to be harassed and threatened by a horny gay superior?
So true. Many of these fools in the Vatican think that “relaxing” rules and watering down hard teachings will bring people back in droves. That approach has never worked for any denomination anywhere. The opposite happens. Some folks get so “relaxed” that they stop showing up at all. Others are simply discouraged and demoralized.
This what happened to a STRAIGHT young seminarian 20 years ago at Notre Dame, who was my wife’s next door neighbor. The homosexual harassment was relentless, and the superiors told him to ignore it!
He does not “cave” he instigates. He is the one who is promoting adultery and homosexuality. He is a heretic, pure and simple.
Can’t argue with that. Bergolio is more leftist community organizer than priest attempting to grow a flock.
