He was willing to risk his life to help people to see that God wasn't distant or unapproachable but loving and trustworthy. Martin Luther also loved to write songs! We felt a little more connected to his journey this week by singing one of his songs called 'A Mighty Fortress is Our God' as in it he wrote about the hope he had that gave him the courage to do what he did...

One of my favorite hymns — but horrid to play on the piano for some reason.
I’m not sure how the English version translates from the original, but the English is beautiful. I think the title of the original strictly translates to “A Strong Tower”, or similar.

Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott
ein gute Wehr und Waffen.
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not
die uns jetzt hat betroffen.
Der alte bo+se Feind
mit Ernst er's jetzt meint
gross macht und viel List
sein grausam Ru+stung ist
auf Erd ist nichts seins gleichen.
(The + after a vowel means it is an umlaut)
The last line should read "nicht" instead of "nichts."
No, translates to permaneent castle, a fortress

very nice, thanks!
We all sang it( I still do ), loudly, with gusto, proudly, and with true joy in my heart, too.
It always makes me feel "safe". I can't explain the feeling, but I always feel GOD is with me, whenever I hear or sing it.
“Castle.” Right. Now I remember. Thanks.
