It’s far more than whether it’s a crime or not. As clergy, who ought to have SOME familiarity with Scripture, there’s the issue of morality.
Abortion is not a crime, but it’s far from morally right. Same with homosexual marriage.
And the appeal of *I didn’t know it was a crime* does NOT excuse him at all in the least of not knowing that it was MORALLY wrong and a sin.
God isn’t going to want to be hearing excuses when His moral law is pretty clear on the issues of sexual morality and harming children.
The guy is getting a double whammy on Judgment Day.
