SPOKANE, Washington, November 30, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Gonzaga University has blocked a proposed speaking engagement for Ben Shapiro, saying it would be “contrary” to the school’s “Catholic/Jesuit mission and values.”
Gonzaga Vice President of Student Development Judi Biggs Garbuio declined the College Republicans chapter’s request to book Shapiro to speak at the university, Campus Reform reports, citing in addition to the school’s “Catholic/Jesuit mission,” human dignity, solidarity with vulnerable people, and safety concerns, given the sort of protests that might accompany an appearance by the conservative, pro-life Jewish commentator.
“Mr. Shapiro’s appearances routinely draw protests that include extremely divisive and hateful speech and behavior, which is offensive to many people, regardless of their age, politics or beliefs,” Biggs Garbuio said, appearing to accidentally acknowledge the intolerance of campus left-wing protestors, who have at other schools rioted and stormed buildings in response to speakers with whom they disagreed.
“Gonzaga University is committed to the human dignity of every individual,” she said. “This is the core of our mission based on the teachings of Christ Jesus, and the foundations of the Society of Jesus. We stand in solidarity with vulnerable members of our community who may be targeted for discrimination, ridicule, or harassment by others.”

Yes we agree, there’s probably $ behind this. As for biblical values, they’re very close throughout all of the denominations that try, at least, to live by them — normal/ traditional Hews, normal/ traditional Catholics, and those Protestant denominations that haven’t gone secular or commie/pinko or whatever. (Jesus was, after all, a Jewish rabbi who taught his followers to obey the teachings of the rabbis ( regardless of whether any particular one was himself honest or a hypocrite) because they sit in the seat of Moses. Jesus also said that not one dot of the biblical ( “Jewish”) law was to be changed. The moral teachings of the Biblicsl law are therefore an integral part of Jewish, Catholic, abd ptotestsnt denominations. It’s not unexpected that Shapiro is morally , “more Christian” than Gonzaga. The surprise, regretfully, is that Gonzaga isn’t. The Jesuits there have jumped the shark, gone off the rail, substantially erred. I’d hate to be a parent paying them to teach my kids!!

It’s sad. Really sad. I have some Catholics in my family and they are all fairly conservative in their values. I’m not familiar with Jesuit colleges at all, though. I am a little surprised that they would actually stop someone with “values” from speaking.
So many Christian/ catholic colleges have gone to the other side ( morally speaking). It’s tragjc. Gonzaga is far from alone

We have that guy on the radio in Houston. He sounds like a wonderful conservative on every issue one can think of...but when it comes to Trump, Shapiro DESPISES him even more than most people in the media.
Maybe he’s too young to understand that we now live in a BINARY COUNTRY. If you hate Trump, BY DEFINITION, you’re providing aid and comfort to the Democrats who are trying to destroy Trump. There is no middle ground anymore.
