November 30, 2018 (CatholicCulture.org) The observation that many churches, which until a few years ago were necessary, are now no longer thus, due to a lack of faithful and clergy, or a different distribution of the population between cities and rural areas, should be welcomed in the Church not with anxiety, but as a sign of the times that invites us to reflection and requires us to adapt.
Those are the words of Pope Francis, as reported by the Vatican press office. The emphasis is mine.
If some day I arrive in a hospital emergency room bleeding profusely from gaping wounds, I'd like to think that the doctors would respond to (not exactly "welcome") my arrival "with anxiety." Because anxiety would be warranted.
The doctors could choose to let me wait a bit, while they reflected on the hazards of modern life and the best ways to prevent whatever sort of accident had befallen me. But if they did, they wouldn't be very good doctors. In fact, if I survived, I might have a strong case for malpractice.
Our Church has been hemorrhaging members for decades now. The closing of churches is a symptom of a serious pathology. Yes, reflect on the causes. Certainly think about how to adapt. But for God's sake be anxious, because souls are at stake!

Imagine, say, the CEO of a major retailer saying, “Many of our stores are empty, have few loyal customers and will be closing soon. No worries!”
I try to stay away from all things associated the Roman Catholic church, but this headline was hard to resist. Whose side is this guy playing on? Smh.
Reminds me of another poor leader explaining why those jobs are gone and not coming back. Nothing to worry about.
The churches may become mosques, which will probably make him happy.
Just like the USA, the Catholic Church dies by its own sword. It is maddening to see the insanity.
The church is lost
Christ almighty is NOT
YOU DONT NEED SOME STUPID BUILDING OR CONGREGANTS
To believe in HIM
Many nondenominational churches, that stay Bible-based and don't have thousands of pages of canons/tenets/special rules, are flourishing...Christians want to hear the Word and know the history of God demonstrating why we need Him and why Christ was an absolute necessity....
You want to know the genuine truth of it?
The “Boomer” Roman Catholic parishioners will most likely be the last RCC congregation of any size in the US. We/They are the remnant. Going forward, the RCC will shrink to insignificance and for a very good reason. Vatican II.
The US is possessed of a society that is near entirely corrupt, degenerate and godless. Its a society that has embraced the culture of death. The Church, via Vatican II is ever more attempting to accommodate itself to the degenerate society in which it finds itself operating and in the process is constantly abrogating and in some cases downright denying sacramental authority. It has become a church of Gay and gay friendly Seminarians, Priests and Episcopacy. And all led by a Pope that wants to re-write the Lords prayer.
In keeping with bad decision making and in a desperate bid to remain relevant in midst of a corrupt and degenerate society, the Church will doubtless embrace Gay marriage, then married priests and then married lesbian nuns. What follows thereafter, necrophilia and abortuaries in every church?
Save your own souls but you may just as well forget the future. It’s roots have been laid in Sodom and Gomorrah.
