Where To Now?
Are the US bishops more afraid of him than they are of their people, whose trust has been so badly abused by the hierarchy these many years? Are they more afraid of him than they are of God?
Yes.
Sad.
Why is it so hard for these bishops to act like normal men?
Because they are not normal men.
This all points in only one direction.
We know that there is nothing that is hidden that will not be brought into the light.
But when it is brought into the light - its going to be very, very bad.
That Bishop Tobin?
Maybe so many of them are homosexual that starting to peel back the layers would result in over half the clergy being exposed as sexual predators.
Same answer I’ve pushed for years is required. Boycott the collection plate.
The boomers saw "the Greatest Generation" ignore the fact that companies were allowing the physical plant to rot and moving factories overseas, but as long as the dividends and pension checks were paid on time their parents didn't give a damn.
So, the boomer children looked the situation over and did the same thing their parents did; calculate that the party wouldn't end in their life time and therefore just took all they could get while things went on down the drain.
The Catholic Church in the US is selling off huge amounts of property. It's not chicken feed, far from it, it's hundreds of millions of dollars. As long as the damages from the suits caused by queer priests can be paid and there's money to take care of the hierarchy for the rest of their lives, they're not going to rock the boat.
It'd be nice to think that Bishops and Priests are drawn from a special group but the fact is that they come from the same population that every other organization draws from. More of them see themselves as having good clean work with no heavy lifting than see themselves as servants of Christ. Their "lifestyle" appears to be secure for the foreseeable future so they're going to just keep their heads down and go along to get along like people do everywhere else.
When it's not your own comfort at risk, it's easy to overestimate the number of people who will risk their comfort to do the right thing.

any thoughts on this>?
This so-called “vote” was not binding, because after all the pope had upended their intention to have a vote, told them not to vote.
Can’t remember what this vote was actually called in light of the pope’s censer, but it was called something that was simply meant to show unity among the bishops for the direction they hoped to see, concerning the gravity of the deplorable situation in the USA that has now engaged the full weight of the Justice Department coming down on them.
The majority of bishops largely fell for the arguments that were made that *claimed* that Bergoglio has already promised the Church that there will be a release of the results of the Vatican investigation (which was said to include archival documents) on McCarrick and his rise through the ranks.
These same bishops thought the resolution on the floor simply repeated what the pope has already and recently promised to deliver.
However, the bishops *for* the resolution were gravely concerned and gave examples from the past that proved that therw have been years and years of delay in several investigations, before the Vatican finally released investigation results. This was the reason given for why these bishops opted to add to the resolution the word “soon”.
The word “transparency” was used as an argument, but it actually appeared nowhere in the resolution.
Over all, the bishops behave as if they are either compromised, or suspiciously under some kind of threat or duress, fearful of doing anything, and the rest are faithless, rebellious protestant wolves in sheep’s clothing quite happy to be pushing the faithful out of the Church, and bringing in the world to replace them.
I wonder what these men really believe? How can they truly believe the tenets of the faith they are supposed to uphold how can they live the lives they do? It appears they are not worried about Judgement and the Afterlife.
