OK, so catholic church officials are promoting gayness, in spite of the church’s official position that gay is not right.
However, the pope said to a gay man “God made you that way” and he has never condemned the gay cardinal sex orgy that took place in the Vatican.
So the official catholic church is no better than the episcopals and all the others that openly have gay clergy.
It’s hypocritical to practice gay crap and maintain that church doctrine forbids it.
As a former Episcopalian and current Catholic, I can tell you that the difference is huge, and the reason is exactly what you say is "hypocritical", but which is, in fact, the key distinguishing characteristic.
Catholic doctrine says "gay crap" is sinful and disordered. Episcopalian doctrine accepts "gay crap" as legitimate and acceptable. The fact that a small minority of Catholics openly ignore the doctrine and advocate sinful and disordered activities is not even remotely comparable to a church that accepts such activities as legitimate.
