August 16, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) The Catholic Church in the U.S. is undergoing possibly the worst crisis that its ever experienced right now, Cardinal Burke said tonight of the ongoing sex abuse scandals and the laitys distrust for bishops who play a part in it.
That has to be recognized and it has to be dealt with in a thorough manner which is faithful to the Churchs moral law and to the Church herself and to the office of the bishops, Burke, the former Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura and one of orthodox Catholics most beloved cardinals, told EWTNs Raymond Arroyo.
I have just completed practically a months visit to the United States and Ive never heard so much anger, so much disappointment, so much frustration from good Catholic faithful, the cardinal said.
On Tuesday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro released a much-awaited grand jury report on decades of sex abuse and Church cover-up across six different dioceses. The report names 301 priests accused of horrific sex abuse and the various bishops who were involved in keeping the cases quiet.
The grand jury report needs to be studied carefully, said Burke, but it would seem to indicate too, that there was a failure on [the] part of certain bishops.
The Pennsylvania report was released in the wake of revelations that Archbishop Theodore McCarrick, the former archbishop of Washington, D.C., had sexually harassed and abused seminarians and priests over decades. This came to light alongside revelations that he sexually abused children, including the first person he ever baptized.

It’s time for the laity to take a stand. We need to demand justice for the children. We should all boycott the Bishop’s Pastoral Service Appeal to make them listen.
It is all part of the programming of doctrine... the 'church' is the object of worship, and whatever it takes protect the 'holy church' is required. The amount of money that has been squandered over this abomination is ungodly... not even to mention the ruination of many young boys. Thankfully, God keeps the perfect record and there will be an accounting... soon...
He was absolutely correct.. The biggest mistake in modern times of the church, if not in its 2000 year history was the decision in the 60s to allow admitted but “non-practicing” homosexuals into the seminary.
Now there are entire diocese that are completely run by sodomites, who trade sexual favors for positions and protect each other and drive ANYONE who might oppose them out in the boonies.
Nearly this ENTIRE mess is directly related to homosexual activity... Nearly 80% of all abuse was on boys... by men, and of that roughly 80% over 80% of that was on post pubescent boys.... Meaning that a full 2/3 of the abuse allegations were by homosexual men on post pubescent yet under 18 boys.
This is NO excuse for the Church covering this stuff up.. and it does not dismiss any of the cases regardless of their details. Sadly sexual abuse will happen in ANY organization that has access to children.. and while the stories are heartbreaking the incident of abuse is, even with these horrendous stories incredibly rare... That isn’t an excuse, but it is rare. Over more than 7 decades of investigation by this PA grand Jury they found 300 alleged priests and 1000 victims... When you realize how many children were involved in the church and its schools over those 70 years, even if the report only represents 10% of all cases, its still a very very small number.
However, without homosexuals in the priesthood, the numbers would be a third of what they are!!! The PC garbage that Homosexuals are just like everyone else is destroying lives... The refusal to accept the reality that has been shown time and time again, that homosexuals, particularly homosexual men, are far more likely to abuse and be predatory that any other group sexually is destroying peoples lives. Your sons should not be being offered up to this lie.
The Church has a LOT of work to do, but without being honest that homosexuals within the church are a huge part of the problem, nothing will truly change...
This has been known to anyone willing to pay attention for DECADES..... And any excuse to deflect is being used.
To Hell with anyone who scoffs at the notion of “Pizza-Gate”.
A well-organized pedophilia ring run by rich, powerful people is MORE than doable as evidenced by the scandals of the Catholic Church.
I pray for all good Catholics who are seeing their Church torn apart by the bad guys and those covering for them.
I know other denominations had some of the same problems in their seminiaries until the late 70s. There were also a lot of doctrinal issues that were iffy.
My pastor at my childhood church told me if you went to seminary you better be sure of what you believed. I've never forgotten that.
