Organisers say they will not change the line-up
Over 10,000 people have signed a petition to withdraw an invitation to Fr James Martin from the World Meeting Of Families.
The petition, started by the Irish branch of Tradition, Family, Property, opposes Fr Martins attendance on the grounds that he supports trangenderism for children, and favours homosexuals kissing during the mass.
Included with the petition is a letter, sent to Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, criticising Fr Martins support for the pro-LGBT New Ways Ministry organisation.
In particular, the letter denounces Fr Martin for having publicly accepted an award from this group, delivered a talk at their event and subsequently developed this talk into a book.
Fr Martin is also in disagreement with the Catechism of the Catholic Churchs reference to homosexual inclination as gravely disordered.
In this way, he would prevent those with same-sex inclination from arriving at a true understanding of their condition in the light of church teaching and Gods mercy. This is a great disservice to those whom he purports to help.
We believe that sowing error and confusion should have no place at the World Meeting of Families. For this reason, we strongly request you to disinvite Fr James Martin from speaking at so important an event.
For his part, Fr Martin insists that he isnt bothered by the ocean of hate and threats, which he has received.

I doubt that he has any threats at all from true Catholics. Maybe from his ex-boyfriends or abuse victims.
And if he isn't bothered by the “ocean of hate” then I suspect he will not be bothered by the Lake of Fire.
Until he is in it.
He may view the “lake of fire” as a “myth”.
Here are a few excerpts from an article written while Benedict was still Pope.

KRAKOW, February 26, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) - A recent paper by a Ph.D. priest from Poland has been circling the globe in recent weeks and given heightened prominence by the recent revelations of a Vatican inquiry into a gay mafia inside the Vatican. Standing with the Pope against homoheresy, was written in late 2012 by Fr. Dariusz Oko, Ph.D., a priest of the Archdiocese of Krakow and Assistant Professor at the John Paul II Pontifical University in Krakow.
Fr. Oko notes that his discovery of a huge homosexual underground in the Church came from his work in philosophical criticism of homosexual propaganda and ideology, a study he was encouraged to undertake by various bishops and cardinals.

The formation of the Lavender Mafia
Describing the formation of homosexual cliques of clergy Fr. Oko says:
They know well, however, that they may be exposed and embarrassed, so they shield one another by offering mutual support. They build informal relationships reminding of a clique or even mafia, aim at holding particularly those positions which offer power and money.Pope Benedict knows and fought bravelyWhen they achieve a decision-making position, they try to promote and advance mostly those whose nature is similar to theirs, or at least who are known to be too weak to oppose them. This way, leading positions in the Church may be held by people suffering from deep internal wounds.
They may actually achieve a dominating position in many areas of church hierarchy, become a backroom elite which actually has tremendous power in deciding about important nominations and the whole life of the Church. Indeed, they may even prove to be too powerful for honest, well-meaning bishops.
Fr. Oko posits that Pope Benedict XVI is well aware of this subculture within the Church and has publicly lamented its filth and the damage it has caused.
The Pope made cleansing the Church from homosexual abuse and preventing its reoccurrence in the future one of the priorities of his pontificate, says Fr. Oko. He removed compromised clergymen from their offices with much energy. In the very first months following his election, still in 2005, he had an instruction issued to strictly forbid ordaining untreated homosexuals. The instruction was preceded by a letter sent from the Holy See to bishops around the world, ordering that priests with homosexual tendencies be immediately removed from any educational functions at seminaries.
While I sympathize, I don’t think keeping him from speaking is the right answer.
If you have cancer, you don’t refuse the MRI. It is important for the whole world, but especially for Catholics, to realize WHAT has happened, WHY it has happened, and WHAT must be done.
Keeping Martin out of the spotlight, to do his work unseen, is an unwise choice. Francis, all of his friends and associates, and the whole LGBT clergy movement within the Western Church must be forced into the light, constantly.
It is painful, but it is necessary.
Martin loves the Free publicity - he is constantly in the news on Catholic websites. What most people don’t know is that Martin is rich from selling his left wing books. No vow of poverty for the SJ’s.
Those are good reasons.
Why is this guy still a priest?
Why doesn't the Catholic church defrock priests who go against Catholic teaching?
I'm really curious.
