I have posted for years this was bound to happened. The Catholic Church has modified their doctrine over the last 1400 years where they have elevated (or lowered) the inspiration of the scriptures to be nothing more than any other writings within the Church. Thus they no longer have a standard. This was played out when they made the pope “infallible” in the 1800s, rejected and replaced the Council of Orange teachings with the Council of Trent, changed the meaning of the atonement, and now is attempting to make Mary “Co-Redepdix”. When you abandoned the Word of God as your infallible standard or ignore or modify its contents, you introduce heresies into doctrine. It isn't anything different than what cults do. And now the Catholic Church finds itself in the uncomfortable position of having an “infallible” dictator who will set theology as he and his pals see fit.

When a religion presumes itself an authority ABOVE/OVER Sacred Scripture, it invariably will collapse just as the Scribes and Pharisees of Judaism did and were reproved by Jesus Christ. He said they were guilty of invalidating, nullifying, voiding and cancelling the word of God for the sake of their traditions (Matthew 15:6).
