Probably someone else has more information ... but I thought they were recognized as Passion Bearers for their steadfast faith at the end. Poor family. They have been re-buried at a cathedral in St. Petersburg. We visited at Easter several years ago and people were leaving flowers at their graves.

There were some exemplary members of the family, particularly among the ones murdered 100 years ago. What befell them was the outpouring of anger pent-up over generations.The tsarist period of Russian history was largely responsible for breeding collective psychosis among the vast majority of their subjects (serfs) who made up the population - producing the bloody madness of the 20th Century.
