The same covenant that promises suffering, promises redemption.
By every measure the Jewish month of Av is tragically unique, one in which the worst disasters in our history took place.
Disaster is no stranger to us. In many ways it is part and parcel of God's covenant with Abraham. When Abraham was told that his people would be chosen, God told him that there would be a price to pay. What is that price? One look at Jewish history tells us two pieces of information that make us unique. One is that we don't disappear because we recognize that we are a people who are united in what the Vilna Gaon would refer to as "rectifying ourselves and rectifying the world." The other is that the when we try to disappear, the results have been disastrous.
Abraham was a seeker. His search took him far beyond his one land, and even further from the assumptions that virtually everyone else in the entire world had about life. To Abraham, God was not only in the heavens, but very much here in the earth, with us. Abraham integrated the world of thought with the world of action. While other religious thinkers at the time would be deep in meditation, Abraham was chopping vegetables and serving platters of food to his innumerable guests.

Interestingly, the first day of Av is the anniversary of the passing of Aaron, Moses' brother, who was known as the ultimate man of peace. What this tells us is that that although we may currently be distant from God and from our higher selves, ultimately there will be the peace that he envisioned; peace that is based on the emergence of our higher selves and the part of us that is man not beast.
>>>
The Talmud tells us that the Messiah will be born on the 9th of Av.
The "higher selves" transcend the difference between "blessed be Mordecai" and "cursed be Haman", the sum being 502, which is Esav spelled out. It's the sum of a man saying "I love you." Disaster, and Consolation.
The 1st thru 9th of Av are "The Nine Days", the same time frame as

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
While still on the ladder, Armstrong uncovered a plaque mounted on the LM descent stage bearing two drawings of Earth (of the Western and Eastern Hemispheres), an inscription, and signatures of the astronauts and President Nixon. The inscription read:
Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon, July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.

The moon is the symbol of Israel: waxing and waning but always renewing.
The Shekinah is held to connect in a particular sense with the patriarchal age. It was after his circumcision that the letter HE was added to the name of Abram and it was also thereafter that he was united - as we have found - with Shekinah. Most of the divine visions beheld by Abraham were visions and manifestations of Shekinah who dwelt constantly in the tent of Sarah, and this is why Abraham as we have seen - on appearing in the presence of Pharaoh, described Sarah as his sister, not as his wife, his reference being really to Shekinah. ... She was present when Isaac blessed Jacob ; it was she who conferred upon Jacob the name of Israel" . ... When seeking a wife it was with Shekinah that Jacob united his intention, and hence it is said - in characteristic Zoharic symbolism-that when he married Rachel he united heaven and earth.
The Spirit of God in Gen 1:2 is the Ruach Elohim, where Rachel is found hovering:

Gen 1
1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth:
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3. And God said, Let there be light; and there was light (veyehi ohr, 238, רחל):
and the spirit of God was hovering: The Throne of Glory was suspended in the air and hovered over the face of the water with the breath of the mouth of the Holy One, blessed be He and with His word, like a dove, which hovers over the nest, acoveter in Old French, to cover, hover over.

Tisha bAv 5729
We are about to observe our one-thousand-nine-hundred-and-forty-first Tisha bAv fast (written in 2011 Ed.) since the destruction of the Second Temple. That amounts to a lot of hope and a lot of disappointment. Although Mashiach1 could come in any moment, the Talmud declares that Tisha bAv is the day most suited to his birth.2 Each year our hopes rise, and each year they have been dashed.
1.
The soul of Mashiach has two dimensions. One is the enlightenment that all of creation will enjoy; and one is that there will be an individual (or a couple) that will master mind and master heart this giant planetary-scale project of coordinating all of humanity into a single, smoothly operating organism, that will run as efficiently as a persons body. According to Kabbala, all of humanity, actually all of creation, is really a single partzuf, a single Adam. In fact, one main feature of messianic consciousness is a greater awareness of our oneness in this regard.
The distinguishing feature of this individual (or couple) is that he become the point of entry for the soul of Mashiach. The highest tip of our world contacts the lowest toenails of the hovering soul of Mashiach, and the highest tip of our world is the person Mashiach.
2.
"And the spirit of G-d hovered upon the waters." (Gen. 1:2) Midrash Rabba explains that this "spirit of G-d" hovering upon the waters is actually the "soul of Mashiach," a term that refers to the highest possible G-d awareness/truth awareness that human beings are capable of. The whole point of our six thousand year labor of teshuva and tikun, of trying to grow and evolve, is to stretch and refine our personal and collective vessels, so that this "spirit of G-d" "this soul of Mashiach" can finally fit inside, embodied as the messianic golden age. Now, it "hovers upon the waters" i.e., the shifting sands of our physical world, waiting for our vessels to evolve and expand enough to finally let it come in. Now, our vessels are too narrow and constricted. Theres no space for its more expansive vision to fit inside. At some point well accumulate a critical mass of tikun where the joint system becomes rectified enough that the designated persons vessel can stretch the minimum amount necessary for the toe of the hovering messianic soul to actually, finally, squeeze in. At that point the potential Mashiach becomes the actual Mashiach, and that is what it means that Mashiach is born.
one main feature of messianic consciousness is a greater awareness of our oneness...
Nixon: Hello, Neil and Buzz. I'm talking to you by telephone from the Oval Room at the White House. And this certainly has to be the most historic telephone call ever made. I just can't tell you how proud we all are of what you've done. For every American, this has to be the proudest day of our lives. And for people all over the world, I am sure they too join with Americans in recognizing what an immense feat this is. Because of what you have done, the heavens have become a part of man's world. And as you talk to us from the Sea of Tranquility, it inspires us to redouble our efforts to bring peace and tranquility to Earth. For one priceless moment in the whole history of man, all the people on this Earth are truly one: one in their pride in what you have done, and one in our prayers that you will return safely to Earth.
Armstrong: Thank you, Mr. President. It's a great honor and privilege for us to be here, representing not only the United States, but men of peace of all nations, and with interest and curiosity, and men with a vision for the future. It's an honor for us to be able to participate here today.
Pacific - "peaceful". It's a big ocean. Lots of physical space. [Outer] space (החלל) is the sum of everything Solomon said (chokmah - wisdom, 73).
Physical space (Hebrew merchav, מרחב):
Space is the boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects and events have relative position and direction.[1] Physical space is often conceived in three linear dimensions, although modern physicists usually consider it, with time, to be part of a boundless four-dimensional continuum known as spacetime. The concept of space is considered to be of fundamental importance to an understanding of the physical universe.

Organisers hold a press conference on July 10, 2018 ahead of the planned launch of Israel's first lunar spacecraft
An Israeli organisation announced plans Tuesday to launch the country's first spacecraft to the moon in December, with hopes of burnishing Israel's reputation as a small nation with otherworldly high-tech ambitions.
The unmanned spacecraft, shaped like a pod and weighing some 585 kilogrammes (1,300 pounds) at launch, will land on the moon on February 13, 2019 if all goes according to plan, organisers SpaceIL told a news conference in Yehud, central Israel.
The vessel will be launched via a rocket from American entrepreneur Elon Musk's SpaceX firm and its mission will include research on the moon's magnetic field.
Its first task, however, will be to plant an Israeli flag on the moon, organisers said.
>>>"We need to think about backup plans," Weiss said. "Earth is becoming small," and ultimately "the future of humanity is in space".
While the planned landing of the small unmanned vessel is one small step toward that end, it is nonetheless "a very significant one", Weiss said.
On the moon, the vessel will transmit data to the control centre at IAI for two days before its systems shut down.

♥ Feb 14, 2019: 107th anniversary of the statehood of Arizona (Eretz Tziona), toward the Land of Zion
T107 = 5778
Inverted nuns, 2 in the Book of Numbers and 7 in Psalm 107.
Where is it its appropriate place? Rav Ashi says: "In the section dealing with the disposition of the Israelites according to their banners (flags) and their travelling arrangements" (Numbers 1:52-2:34, Shabbath 116a).
Re December: the tears of the Eretz Tziona (USS Arizona) are located in an isolated grave in the Pacific, in the state of Aloha (peace), the 50th state.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And just as the 288 sparks are found within "death", in the same place the fruit (פרי) is located within the mother (אם) (Rachel Imenu) because Ephraim (אפרים) is the firstborn, where the fruit (seed) of the mother (אם) is literally within itself (created on the third day).
Rachel was buried on the way toward fruition, "Ephrata".
Genesis 37
9. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brothers, and said, Behold, I have again dreamed a dream; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me:
10. And he told it to his father, and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the earth:
11. And his brothers envied him; but his father kept the matter in mind:
This year, 5778, marks 3570 years since the death of Rachel and birth of Benoni. The 49th anniversary of the moon landing/first walk occurs on Tisha B'Av.

Jer 31
6. For thus says the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout on the hilltops of the nations; proclaim, praise, and say, O Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel:
7. Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and she who labors with child together; a great company shall return there:
8. They shall come weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will make them walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, where they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn:
9. Hear the word of the Lord, O you nations, and declare it in the islands far away, and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, like a shepherd keeps his flock:
10. For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he:
11. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be like a watered garden; and they shall not languish in sorrow any more:
12. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning to joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow:
13. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the Lord:
14. Thus says the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not:
15. Thus says the Lord; Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy:
16. And there is hope for your future, says the Lord, that your children shall come again to their own border:

July 10 - 27th of Tammuz 5778, one of the traditional conceptual dates for the birth of Joseph.
Meaning it can be considered also the date that Rachel said, "The Lord shall add to be another son." Perhaps that should have occurred on the 8th day, but she named Benoni as her soul departed in childbirth, which occured on the way to fruition.
"Son of my strength"
Tears of the Eretz Tziona:
USS Arizona had about 1.4 million gallons of fuel when she sank. Even today, about two quarts of this fuel surfaces every day. These oil droplets are named Black Tears by Pearl Harbor survivors. The bond between the shipmates aboard USS Arizona went way past being mere comrades. When the ship went down, 37 sets of brothers went down with it.
