It was never a question of whether our obedience is “good enough,” when we fail we confess and repent.
That is the only thing that can activate our “grace” account. No obedience, no grace.
As Paul said, we must “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.”
You seem to doubt Yeshua’s words in Matthew 7:21-23. (and all of John’s words in his first epistle)

the sign of the true grace of God is a desire to live righteously, and to remain in Love and truth. Grace is the cause, but Holiness and Love and truth are the effect.\
