The mere thought of murder is equated to actual murder. The mere thought of adultery is equated to actual adultery.

So it was the *thought* of eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil that introduced sin into the world? Since it was a sin that preceded the actual eating of the fruit. Does it follow that Man was sinning *before* even eating of the fruit.

Are you arguing with Jesus?
Because it was our Lord who said that, not Luther or ealgeone.
Just asking for some clarification “from Jesus” or any orthodox Christian on such an important issue. Would that imply that the sin if thinking about eating the fruit was just as grievous as actually eating the fruit? Because I don’t recall Genesis saying that the Fall occurred from the mere thought of sinning.
