If a member of the Catholic clergy has broken the law they need to be prosecuted.
My sister in law was the HR Manager for the Diocese. They used Canon Law in every pleading.
Our Bishop Marshall was swiftly taken out of town to pedo rehab in Baltimore—right before the charges were filed.
Our own parish priest had his homo lover priest buddy come up to visit every holiday. He skipped town and “retired” with his gay priest lover to Cape Code.
It was disgusting. Their take on it was, “We don’t have to follow your laws, we follow the laws of the Church.”
If my Congregational Church tried that, they would have been laughed out of town. But the Irish Catholic DA and Congressman played racquetball with bishop. So waves were not made.
Any sane person who does not see the Catholic Church as aiding and abetting pedophilia, and covering it up, has not done a whole lot of research.
And wasn’t there a whole coven of pedo priests in Arizona a couple of years ago?
While I appreciate that MA and NY had it bad...so didnt the priest of my parents parish in far away Derby Vermont.
It isn’t just my town. The water is fine here. We arrest pedos and they get on the register. The priests get promoted and transferred. They get to retire to Cape Cod. While my childhood friend decays in his grave.
Men guilty of this crime, if they do not repent, will go to hell.
And those who knew about it but let it continue?

When the church decided to let the wolves in the door back in the 60s, declaring that if you were homosexual but not practicing you could join the priesthood.... This sealed there fate....
They now run amok within the church, trade sexual favors for preferable appointments and drive out any who oppose or threaten them.
That also is a sin, and has the same consequences. They must repent or face the same judgment.
Were you once Catholic? I thought you were. Maybe I am confusing you with another poster.
The back door....lol.
I never converted, but ive raised my children Catholic. I was active in the local parish. We had a wonderful Monsignor. Then he died and they sent us the pedo priest. The first second I met him, I literally recoiled because he was so similar to the pedo priest of my early teens.
About two months into his tenure his past caught up with him. At the time my SIL worked for the Diocese and I got an earful of the stuff that wasnt in the papers. It was just dirty, smarmy, and they covered it up, fought to keep it suppressed using the most arcane positions of Catholic Law.
He beat the clock and they retired him to Cape Cod where lived with his good friend another homo priest.
Both my wife and I havent really been back since. I have no use for an organization that went to the lengths they did to protect these monsters.
