Hungarian PM Orban Getting Tougher on Immigration: ‘We Are Building a Christian Democracy’

After a huge electoral victory that saw his party win a two-thirds super-majority, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán has announced tougher immigration rules and his vision of a Hungary built on “Christian democracy”.

The Hungarian leader announced his new plans in a radio broadcast on Friday, saying: “We are building a Christian democracy. An old-fashioned Christian democracy whose roots are in the European tradition, where human dignity is essential and where there is a separation of powers,” newspaper Ouest France reports.

“We will defend the Christian culture and we will not give the country to foreigners,” Orban added, and spoke about a proposed constitutional amendment from 2016 to limit mass migration, which failed to pass due to the government not having the required two-thirds majority in parliament at the time.

“I feel obliged to implement this constitutional amendment now,” he said.

I was going to move back to Canada if Hillary had won, but Trudeau has turned that into a cess pool. Perhaps Hungary would accept some peaceful, hard working immigrants. Doesn’t hurt that a lot of Hungarian women are hot :-).

Europe has no problem with the many countries that have Islam as the state religion, nor with Turkey that does not yet treats minority religious bodies as if it did, but it will still complain loudly about Orban saying Hungary is a Christian democracy.

According to the CIA Factbook:

Roman Catholic 37.2%, Calvinist 11.6%, Lutheran 2.2%, Greek Catholic 1.8%, other 1.9%, none 18.2%, unspecified 27.2%

This presents a bit of a problem to PM Viktor Orbán.

As far as those religions that have steadfastly held on to Christian traditions, the Orthodox have maintained their religious practices and identities far better than have the Roman Catholics and the Protestants.

Both republican-democracies and Christian religions share the same problem, they cannot survive without corresponding duties, obligations and rules of conduct, which constitute discipline.

Since religions seem to be unable to agree on these terms, it seems that it is up to PM Viktor Orbán to form mutually agreeable agreements between them and their nation of what is *acceptable* Christianity, and what is *not acceptable*, deviations from that faith.

For example, there is considerable variance within each of these religions, except perhaps the Greek Orthodox, about abortion and euthanasia. While there is variation internationally, the PM must be crystal clear that within Hungary, each of these religions must steadfastly reject abortion and euthanasia. Again, just as an example.

There is a method, here. For the various Christian faiths to get along, they must have more they agree with each other than disagree about. While Hungarian RC bishops might come under pressure from the Vatican to be more pro-abortion, hypothetically, their reaction must be to shrug, and say, “Your Holiness, we cannot comply, for by Hungarian Christian law it is unlawful to support or even sermonize about it. While secular people may do so, the Christian faiths of Hungary may not do so.”

So it is the job of the PM to make sure the Christian faiths of Hungary have corresponding duties, obligations and rules of conduct, which constitute discipline. Christian faiths, real or nominal, that refuse to abide by these rules are not allowed to set up shop in Hungary.

The same with Muslims, Scientologists, cultists, crackpots, and many others.
