Noting that I did not hear what the pope said, please consider the following.

The pope’s alleged message hauntingly reflects Mark 7:6-13. In that passage, Jesus reprimanded the Pharisees and teachers of the law for encouraging young people to disobey the "Honor Thy Father and Mother …” commandment, the Pharisees thus driving a wedge between parents and their children.
