Many Jews despise Israel, because they are more about Socialism than Judaism.
In Europe before WWII, Jews were classified as two types: Zionists and the Jewish Labor Bund, which was Socialist and Secular in nature. The Bund eventually came to strongly oppose Zionism, arguing that emigration to Palestine was a form of escapism.
I was in Temple after Trump announced Jerusalem would be the capitol of Israel..I thought they would be happy but NO they denounced it..of course, because Trump did it and they hate him..their holy grail is abortion..and of course being nice nice to Arabs..Liberal Jews could care less about Israel, they have never been to Israel they don’t care what happens to her as long as Planned Parenthood continues to get their funding
