I did some research on Mormons who leave the LDS church. I was interested to see how many came over to any of the Trinitarian denominations, Catholic or Protestant.
The sad fact is that most ex-Mormons become atheists. The fantastical teachings and poppycock notions found in the book of Mormon must really turn them off to any concept of the Divine, especially since Mormonism posits a god with a physical body who lives on a planet near a star. The relief felt by escaping the Mormon social straitjacket must also contribute to a reluctance to embrace a different faith tradition.
Teaching that North America was once inhabited by Jewish Indians and Aryan Hebrews doesn’t help, either.
Yikes! Scary.
