35And He said to them, “When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They said, “No, nothing.” 36And He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one. 37“For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, ‘AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.” 38They said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.” Luke 22:35-40 NASB

Not advancing this passage in support of gun ownership, but it is an interesting passage.

Add to this, “He who lives by the sword will die by the sword”. This means that the good guys better have “swords” or the bad guys won’t die by the sword.

In Luke 22:36 He said to them: “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. Vs 37. In vs 38 The disciples said “See Lord here are two swords.” “That is enough” he said. (NIV”

Note: I agree with you, and I believe God was clear that they were to kill ALL in the promise land, when they went after it in Old Testament! In fact, when they left any living and made a deal with them, it turned out to be a huge mistake.
