WASHINGTON, D.C., February 1, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) The Episcopal church in the Diocese of Washington, D.C., passed a resolution last week to stop using masculine pronouns for God in future updates to its Book of Common Prayer.
The resolution to stop using "gendered language for God" was passed quickly by delegates to the Diocese's 123rd Convention.
If revision of the Book of Common Prayer is authorized, to utilize expansive language for God from the rich sources of feminine, masculine, and non-binary imagery for God found in Scripture and tradition and, when possible, to avoid the use of gendered pronouns for God, the resolution stated.
Over the centuries our language and our understanding of God has continued to change and adapt, the drafters of the resolution stated. The drafters said that referring to God using masculine pronouns is to "limit our understanding of God."
"By expanding our language for God, we will expand our image of God and the nature of God," they stated.
But Clergy delegate The Rev. Linda R. Calkins from St. Bartholomews Episcopal Church in Laytonsville, Maryland, challenged the delegates to go further.
Calkins read from Genesis Chapter 17, in which God tells Abraham I am El Shaddai. She said that if Episcopalians "are going to be true to what El Shaddai means, it means God with breasts.
Having studied much feminist theology in my masters degrees, I wrote a thesis on liberation and freedom and non-equality in feminist theology and existential counseling, Calkins told the delegates, as reported by The Institute On Religion & Democracy.
And I am still waiting for the Episcopal Church to come to the place where all people feel that they can speak Gods name. Many, many women that I have spoken with over my past almost 20 years in ordained ministry......

The Episcopal Church is now a cult.
No. They’re in your face now and no longer hiding the fact that they’re really atheists
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
I am all atwitter over what the POPE will do to counter this.
I am sure he can come up with something more bizarre.
He may declare the next Pope will be a Woman OR at least a man who claims he can be flexible and ‘go either way’.
I am NOT blaspheming the Pope - he took care of that a while back.
POPE: In the words of the Great R R
:TEAR DOWN THAT WALL:
I mean let’s face it, God could have been a transgender, maybe gay. /s/
I wonder if our buds in islam are bending and swaying to keep up with political correctness?
See what happens when you let women vote?
The Episcopal Church was taken over by sexual deviants and eco fascists a long time ago. It is a hollow shell of its former self.
The Episcopal Church might as well merge with the Unitarians.
God left us His requirement for faithful living in Revelation 22: 18,19. He will look at this bunch of free-lancers on the Great Day of Judgment and say, “I never knew you.”
This s like the Captain of the Titanic ordering water pumped into the sip after it hit the ice berg to keep it afloat.
As a private pilot from years ago this made me laugh.
I remember that God agreed to spare Sodom if there were any righteous among them at all. And it turned out, there weren’t any. He got Abraham’s kinfolk out and turned it into a smoking hole in the ground.
That’s what comes to mind when I think about these apostate churches.
So no, what ever TEC does makes no difference. Theyre done.
How small are feminists brains (and the wimpy, liberal men who go along with them), that they can’t relate at all to a “Father” or male of any kind?
Re: Are they gonna start calling God, It.
I would not be one bit surprised if they start called God she.
On a different but I think related matter, every child raising, health related article or book I have read in recent years has used the pronoun she either exclusively when referring to a child or in a mix with the pronoun he. In that mix some attempt to have an even usage of both pronouns, but many primarily use she with a lesser usage of he. The concept of the universal he referring to both sexes is apparently taboo, but the use of the female pronoun is not.
A lot of mainstream denominations have already caved on things God says in Bible are an abomination. Sadly, those teaching scripture will be held accountable for their actions, and heresies.
God came incarnate as his son, Jesus, a man. That should not be questioned. In Genesis, he created man and woman. Nowhere is God a she or it, as I have read thru Bible many times. When we are accountable for something, so readily available, it makes sense to know what it says! My faith is strengthened every time I read scripture.
Each journey from Sin to Savior is different, and we all ‘work out are own salvation, with fear and trembling’. I grew up in southern church established by ancestors, so that basic teaching was in there, even though it took twenty years to find the reality in God, that was waiting all the time!
Youth now rarely darkens the door of a Church unless parents insist, and sadly, we see higher crime, less spiritual concern, and definitely all kinds of rebellion, that makes the last few generations seem tame! Prayer needed for American revival!
Thank you for posting. Born, raised, baptized Episcopla.
No longer affiliated as of now.
So these loonies are saying that God is a tranny? I knew this was going to happen when they legalized “medicinal” pot for “recreational” use.
Yowsa!
