OK, I have been married for 30 years, but was just married in the church a year ago.

First off, you have to be married IN the church, unless you have approval from the Bishop, but I would have to assume the Pope is ok there.

The big problem is that they have to go to confession first (both of them) and have no sex till the wedding is convalidated. The Pope obviously is ordained, so he can hear a confession, if he did there is nothing that is outside of the norm here as far as I know, and I’ve had to get a pretty good grasp of marriages policy, annulments, valid marriages, etc in the last couple of years.

Technically a confession is not needed for a valid celebration of a wedding. It is highly suggested, can 1065. For fruitfulness.

But when laws don’t matter anymore, whats the point?
