Onward Christian Soldiers was one of the hymns we sang on Sunday morning during Boy Scout camp outs back in the early 60’s. I still remember the lyrics.
“Onward Christian Soldiers”, and “Battle Hymn of the
Republic” were both sung once a week in grade school on
singing day. Talk about giving officials a case of the vapors today. What I find amazing is not that these songs are prohibited today but, rather, how easy it was to accomplish the ban. We just stood by and watched.
