"Terry and Jesse Show" latest to get axed
DETROIT (ChurchMilitant.com) - A spate of orthodox Catholic programming is being ditched by Relevant Radio. After Mother Miriam was let go in November and Catholic Answers Live was dropped on New Year's Day, an internal email sent Friday announced the station was also ditching "The Terry and Jesse Show," known for its blunt, no-holds-barred approach to the Faith.
Hosted by Terry Barber and Jesse Romero, the show aired from 89 p.m. ET each weekday, running for 11 years on Immaculate Heart Radio before the station was bought out by Relevant Radio last year.
"This summer, Immaculate Heart Radio and Relevant Radio merged to form one organization Immaculate Heart Media, branded as Relevant Radio," the announcement declared at the time. "We are now working together as one organization to reach 133 Million people in 39 states across 127 radio stations."
During the merger, Immaculate Heart Radio had been assured programming would not change. Within less than three months, however, three of its most popular shows have been dropped, suddenly and without warning. Inside sources also tell Church Militant that staff were angered that the name Immaculate Heart Radio, with its deeply Catholic overtones, was being replaced by the more secular title Relevant Radio.
Barber and Romero were nicknamed the "Catholic Cowboys" for their unpredictable and frank discussion of the Faith. With a reputation for orthodoxy, the duo at times called out wayward clergy and prelates for causing scandal to the flock. It was this, inside sources say, that spurred Fr. Francis "Rocky" Hoffman, executive director of Relevant Radio, to drop the show.

Did they get that in writing?
lots of misinformation in the article.
Lets start with that Relevant Radios programming lineup before merging with Immaculate Heart Radio, was superior.
Superior hosts, superior shows! A great Catholic Radio station/network.
Immaculate Heart Radio, on the other hand, was more like secular talk radio with a Catholic flavoring. Thats been predominantly fixed now with the merger. ...And so some shows had to go. Since it was a merger between a high quality network(Relevant) and bit confused(Talk Radio...Catholic) network (Immaculate Heart Radio).
Programming was of course going to favor one over another.
As to “Catholic Answers” going(cancelled), Relevant Radio(the merged one) tried to buy out Catholic Answers so they could use it exclusively and brand it as their premier show. The negotiations however did not work out.
So your left with 2 shows that were cancelled...much ado about nothing.
“Let your yes mean yes, let your no mean no, and let your lawyer look over the fine print.”
I use to listen to relevant radio, Drew Mariani, Sheila Logmanis (Spelling?), Father Svetland all the time. I’m not even familiar with these other names as in the article, I will have to tune in. I usually catch the afternoon shows.
The fact that evolution-pushing Catholic Answers is considered "orthodox" shows exactly how pathetic the Catholic Church has become.
The Catholic Church is on the way to rescinding the condemnation of homosexuality at this very moment, invoking none other than good ole Galileo (you know, just like they use Galileo to justify their "the Bible is fairy tales" dogma). When that happens all the "conservative" Catholics will still be shaking their heads as to how it happened and defending evolution and higher criticism to their last breaths.
- Whenever new management takes over in broadcasting, programming is GOING TO CHANGE. Take that to the bank.
- The more secular name Relevant Radio might have been a marketing ploy to try and attract non-Catholics to tune in.
