It was the first time Trump has used the presidential power...Sholom Rubashkin, who ran...the country's largest kosher meat-processing company...Rubashkin's longtime attorney, Guy Cook, praised the decision, saying his client "has finally received justice." "The sentence previously imposed was unfair, unjust and essential a life sentence," he said via email. "President Trump has done what is right and just. The unrelenting efforts on Rubashkin's behalf have finally paid off."

Nobody at the top is going to go after illegal employers. It makes for too many uncomfortable encounters at the country clubs.

Streets in Boro Park are usually blocked due to too much traffic, double parking, etc. So this is nothing new. I have to admit I am not a fan of Rubashkin, because of improper slaughter techniques in his slaughterhouse which caused great pain and distress to some of the cattle, in violation of Jewish law. I would never buy Rubashkin products under any circumstances. I really hope he does not open another slaughterhouse.

The streets are blocked by people celebrating, not cars double parked.

“Thousands of Hasidic Jews celebrating on the streets in NYC the release of #Rubashkin by President Trump I’ve never seen such excitement “what a Hanukkah gift best President ever” #NewYorkCity”

Yes it was in the article:

“But former prosecutor Bob Teig, who retired in 2011 after serving as a prosecutor and spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, said Trump’s decision to commute Rubashkin’s sentence “makes no sense” given Trump’s repeated promises to get tougher on illegal immigration.”

Is a Jewish guy from NYC having a goy lawyer as unusual as I think, or am I being some kind of -ist for even observing this?

Re: “Rubashkin wasn’t convicted of any crimes associated with illegal immigration.”

Perhaps you should explain why?

The government withdrew the immigration case after Rubashkin was convicted on fraud charges, which carried a heavier sentence.

The immigration charges were dismissed “without prejudice,” which means the DOJ can still prosecute Rubashkin.

Also, in exchange for the immigration dismissal, Rubashkin agreed that “evidence of immigration violations” could be examined by the judge who sentenced him for the fraud charges.

One final note - the list of judges, politicians, and former AGs who asked that Rubashkin’s sentence be reduced reads like a Who's Who of the Hard Left and Amnesty RINOs.

Wow! Is that really true? Thank you so much for the gossip!

[Little dramatic irony there.]

It's true that Cook is a Polish name. No! Worse, yet, it's an American name now! It's not very German at all... I'm joking!

Sincerely, a good answer might be in the Book of Esther (Mordechai, Ahasuerus, and all)...and the story of Daniel...and Abraham in Egypt...or...maybe the story of President Trump, Rabbi Rubashkin and Israel! We'll see.

Anyway, the answer is *not too unusual.* One never really knows who one might meet. Might be a friendly, or even a kindred soul.

[I'm not Jewish and am not qualified to answer any of these questions. But as seen in jjotto's tagline, "Ya could look it up."]

Some of you might have been looking for answers to sincere questions. Some of the answers are in this video.

Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s Case Discussed on FOX
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d2vywmA8bg

As for who was pushing for the prosecution, PETA publicized the most about the plant early on. Other groups and affiliations followed PETA’s information to get involved. Most of the groups and affiliations pushing for prosecution were left-leaning entities. To lifelong residents of Postville, Iowa, it was a long term, horrid circus of nut groups and exploiting interests administering the destruction of their community.
