3. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my savior; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower:
I was thinking about this idea as it pertains to a mother, who is often called the "rock of the family", the one upon whom every member depends. "A mother's love..", "a face only a mother could love", and so forth. She is the foundation, the mortar that keeps it all together...
The mother of Israel is Rachel Imenu, who cries for her dear children. Her soul went out 3570 years ago, and then she was buried along the road, but her spirit lives. Therefore, her love transcends the physical world, the same as 8 transcends the physical world of 7. Day 1 is the 8th day beyond the 7, like successive octaves on a musical scale.
Applying that concept to the House of Israel (ישראל), when 1 (alef) is 8 (chet) we can see the foundation, the rock of the family:
ישראל ---> יש רחל
Israel ---> "There is Rachel"
Where else would she be? At home all along, keeping it all together.
