Almighty God

(Old Testament)

Genesis17:1

Almighty God

Avram was probably quite comfortable in Ur. It was the height of urban Civilization at the time. Yet, when the ALMIGHTY called him out, Avram obeyed. Avram was to have many more tests of his faith. Yet, Abraham BELIEVED God, and that was accounted to him as righteousness.

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Since I have been teaching music to children of all ages for about twenty years, I have developed a very personal style in which the student keeps a three-ring binder into which I hand write the day's lesson, and draw a little calendar for the week ahead, so that the student can record when he or she practices. With the very young, this is done with colorful stickers. Some of the children are too young to even be able to read, so I use a lot of illustrations. As the years went on, I noticed that even the older children couldn't read my handwriting, so I developed an alphabet of block letters that looked like the ones on a computer keyboard. At first, I thought it was my handwriting that was a problem, but then I found out that the children were NOT learning what they called "cursive" handwriting. This became evident in a high-profile trial in Florida when the "star witness" shocked everyone when she said "I can't read cursive, sir". I was stunned. The children couldn't read my writing, not because my writing was illegible, (it wasn't!), but because they were not being taught!

"Why do we have to learn cursive?," my student innocently asked.

I patiently showed him on his tablet how I could change the words of his favorite song with a tap of my finger. Then I told him the the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution are in cursive, so no one can change the words unless they go through a whole lot of trouble! I asked him if he would like to see his freedom go away with a tap on the screen or the click of a mouse. "Wow,' he said, "I better learn cursive!"

In a newer section of Jerusalem stands a strange-looking building. The main building looks like the lid of a clay pot. Inside, in a safe, climate-controlled environment, are the Dead Sea Scrolls. There are more than just Scriptures enshrined here. The "Rules of the Community" and some Apocalyptic Literature were also rolled up and sealed in clay jars, and hidden in caves near the Dead Sea, by a strict sect of Jews called The Essenes.

The amazing thing is, as far as the Scriptures are concerned, the texts are almost identical to what is used to this day. God has preserved His Word through 2000 years of conquests, invasions, crusades, and empires.

Since today's Name "Almighty God" is connected to the Bible Verse about God's Covenant with Abram, we see that The God Who created the Universe and The Time/Space Continuum keeps His Covenant.

When I was a child there were 35-40 students per class, no assistants. Somehow we learned cursive.

God already knew that the schools would fall short, therefore:
