Let us remember and pray for the souls in Purgatory.

Another completely unbiblical belief of Roman Catholicism

All of the examples you offered were people praying for people here on earth with those prayers directed to God.

“Don’t waste my time. LOL I suspect that you have ZERO theological credentials whatsoever, so why should anyone listen to you? All you need to know is that everything I have said is 100% accurate and I have no interest in trying to correct those who are so mired in their peculiar doctrinal positions that they cannot even conceive that there exist true Christians who might disagree with them.”

You’ve not said anything. You’ve not contributed any useful discussion to the thread. You claimed something existed that didn’t occur. Now you don’t want to be questioned.

This sounds like a liberal..,

Eagleone is right on. You have posted wishful thinking and claimed it is truth.

Keep telling the truth eagleone. It is up to God to open hearts.

It is simply an open discussion thread. Nothing more.

No Biblical revelation states that Jesus told his disciples to write a book, and that that would be the sole source of revealed knowledge.

I agree with tjd1454 just to ignore you completely in the future.

If you follow the thread you'll note tjd1454 jumped on amoreperfectunion in presuming he was attacking roman catholicism.

When asked for his take on this his reply was?

Lifelong Protestant here, and sick and tired of willfully ignorant knee-jerk anti-Catholic posters who attack the Catholic Church at every opportunity. (FYI B.A, M.A, and Ph.D. in Theology here).

salvation posted this with the note: for your discussion. unless this is another attempt of hers to stir the pot in an attempt to have non-catholics banned.

If Roman Catholics don't want the discussion, don't post in open forums. Your beliefs will be challenged.

If you brag about your degree being better than mine you will be asked to substantiate it.

“No Biblical revelation states that Jesus told his disciples to write a book, and that that would be the sole source of revealed knowledge.”

As it turns out, there are two other members of the Godhead that did.

In other words, you have nothing of note to offer to the conversation other than a haughty attitude with a claim of a PhD to which you cannot substantiate.

Now that right there is a good one. HA! You have restored a little kindly humor to a thread headed for lock down.

Thanks to a couple of argumentative regulars, with more attitude than reason of even the Apostles Creed, regarding the communion of saints.

No Biblical revelation states that Jesus told his disciples to write a book, and that that would be the sole source of revealed knowledge.

The appeal to the written word is well attested to in Scripture.

1Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, 2just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, 3it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; 4so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught. Luke 1:1-4 NASB

1What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— 2and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. 1 John 1:1-4 NASB

3Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. 4For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude 1:3-4 NASB

Of course—Paul, and all the writers of Scripture, were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write. And all that they say is true, and is truly the Word of God.

That said, I stand by my previous statement, for it is also written the not all things that he said and taught are contained in scripture, for indeed the whole world could not contain it. Or words to that effect. I’m sure you could find the exact quote or probably know it already, for which I commend you. :-)

Your comment: “Not in the Scriptures either.”

Perhaps you should read Maccabees , or was that one of the books of the Bible that Luther said wasn’t inspired because it didn’t agree with his new man-made religion.

Jesus said that one needs to be perfect to meet God, so one needs to be purified before entering Heaven, thus Purgatory. Matthew 5:48 and other mentions in the bible.

Don’t make me laugh. You have ZERO credentials with which to speak on any theological matter, and are attempting to cover up your own lack of authority by attacking your opponents. Jesus, in His high priestly prayer, beseeched His disciples to “all be as one.” You will one day answer for your refusal to show love and respect for His followers

To be clear...you have no idea of what credentials I have.

Second...you have a claim of a phd to which I asked where you received this from. To which you have not replied. It makes me question if you really have one.

Third, you jump a moreperfectunion presuming he was talking about roman catholicism.

Fourth, you've yet to offer your "highly esteemed" education insight to the issue at hand.

You're reminding me of some of the protestors hired by soros who are just here to stir up trouble.

There are two statements in John that bring clarity to this topic.

In this one John tells us why these things were written.

30Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31 NASB

In this one he notes not everything Jesus did could be contained. The point though, is we don't need everything He did written down as noted in the prior passage. I admit, it would be nice to have a day to day journal of His activities and everything He said. However, they didn't record history as we do today.

The question is though....do you believe in Christ as John noted in the first passage?
