From Vatican Radio link:

Pope Francis warns warmongers: the only fruit of war is death

If you have a problem with "warmongers" as not a direct quote, take it up with Vatican Radio.

"He didn’t say soldiers are warmongers."

That's right. In fact, I can't find ANY quote from Francis where he himself uses the word "warmonger."

I've just provided you with a direct quote from Vatican Radio.

As far as your other request: here you go:

Pope Francis Says Arms Manufacturers Can't Call Themselves Christian

I didn't ask you for a quote from Vatican Radio. I don't care about Vatican radio. I asked you for a quote from the Pope where he used the word "warmongers" as your thread asserts and you haven't done it. Why the hell can't you just acknowledge he didn't say it? Sheesh.

Take it up with Vatican Radio. They were the ones who used "warmongers" in their title.

And FYI:

It was only last May (2015), after all, that Pope Francis told a group of schoolchildren visiting the Vatican that the arms trade is the “industry of death.” When a kid asked why so many powerful people don’t want peace, the pope answered simply, “because they live off wars!” Francis explained how people become rich by producing and selling weapons. “And this is why so many people do not want peace. They make more money with the war!”

Pope Francis Condemns the Arms Trade, War Profiteering, and Even the War on Terror

Now try to explain the difference between "industy of death" and the "warmongers", if you can that is.

"Warmonger" was mentioned in not only the title of the News.VA (the Official Vatican Network) article, but it was also spoken in the linked audio file within that article.

Take your complaints up with the Vatican about what words it chooses to throw out.

P.S. Most of this pope's sermons are never published in their full content.

Have you ever wondered why?

I’m still waiting for you to admit Francis did not call all soldiers warmongers. Until you have the humility or integrity to acknowledge that, I really can’t see any point in playing along any further.

Melanson's headline is clickbait.

What Pope Francis did say is bad enough: one would be foolish to criticize him for what he didn't say.

He should put his personal Army on humanitarian mission and pronounce to the world (muslims) that he is not protected by soldiers. Pointy hat pointy head!

I read somewhere about selling something to buy a sword but tools of war/solders this pope don’t understand.

How do you know what he didn’t say?

The full sermon hasn’t been published in the English language; and the ones that are occasionaliy published are scrubbed.

Yet his “Official Vatican Network” mentioned “warmongers” twice.

I suppose that he will be disbanding the Vatican army, no?

While I am sure they are deadly soldiers, they are dressed like something I see on playing cards.

Could they not find less embarrassing uniforms for those guys to wear?

What you DON'T have, is Pope Francis saying what the headline claims,

"Francis denigrates soldiers, referring to us as "warmongers."

See, that statement is utter balderdash!

Wars have liberated us from slavery, from communism, from fascism, from tyranny, from brutal dictatorships, from Muslim enslavement.

War can be a good thing when it saves people from worse fates, even though good people, and innocent people die from them.

Casting all war as bad slurs soldiers and makes their sacrifices inconsequential.

I really don’t like this Pope!

Ed

I usually like his work but those do notlook very practical on many fronts.
