500 years of Protestant Revolution: CHRIST THE KING is the Anti-Luther
Rorate Caeli ^ | October 29, 2017 | New Catholic

Posted on 10/29/2017 12:05:02 PM PDT by ebb tide

Why did Pope Pius XI, when he established the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ with his encyclical Quas Primas un 1925, not choose for it the last Sunday of the liturgical year (as Paul VI did later for his new mass), but rather the Last Sunday in October?

The short answer is simple: Christ the King is the Anti-Luther. The Lord is not the king of this or that German princedom, changing doctrines according to the whim of the moment. He's the King of the Universe, unchanging and unchangeable. As a counter-feast of the "Reformation Sunday" Protestants celebrate on the last Sunday in October, Pius XI proposed Our Lord, King.

Better rush back and do some penance or that’s another decade or two in Purgatory.

Ouch again bro. 😀

What do suppose Luther did with all the rent money he saved? 😆

No ebb. I carry the life of Christ and eternal life.

I’m grateful that God used good ol! Father Luther to recover the Gospel.

If so, it must be in the millions by now. I hope he enjoyed a nice beer nor and then...

One would think that after five centuries most normal Roman Catholics would get past the reality of the Reformation and rejoice that so very many people are brothers and sisters in Christ who remain faithful to the gospel - even when they don’t identify as “Roman Catholic”. Those that seem to only be able to rant and rave about “Protestants” and Christians-who-aren’t-Catholic - and even some of their OWN RCs! - must live bitter and empty lives. I pray for them regularly.

So why are you trying to hurt the people you don’t like?

I've already told you, I don't dislike you; and I pray for you.

And I don't understand why you feel hurt by the Truth.

Recover the Gospel ??

Please, you might be able to make an argument that some of those who followed Luther recovered something, a poor argument, but at least a slightly reasonable one, but Luther started and ended by throwing out the portions of Scripture he found inconvenient.

And yes, putting books of the Bible in an addendum prefaced with Luther's bold statement that the books in the addendum were not inspired by God is throwing them out. Throw out Revelation, Hebrews, and Peter, then call that "recovering the Gospel?

Come on, at least try and make rational statements which you cannot do when you state things that fly in the face of the very well documented facts.

We’re not talking about me or my beliefs. We’re talking about you.

We?

That's hilarious. You believe in a one-way monologue, on your part; no dialogue., huh?

How very Lutheran of you.

You would be assuming correctly sir. Maybe he was able to use all that money, to start his own denomination. NOT.
At the risk of committing a certain sin, that will remain unnamed, Luther may be one of the reasons we enjoy assurance of salvation. 😀😆😄🇵🇭

I carry the life of Christ and eternal life.

I doubt you do if you reject Communion with the Catholic Church.

Maybe you prayed for me, when I was a member of a certain religion that will remain unnamed. I had a bitter and empty life, while I was in it. Things are different now. 😀🇵🇭
Yesterday at this time, I was sitting in Ninoy Aquino International Airport, posting on this thread, while watching 747s, Airbus 330s and PAF C-130s fly by. It was a nostalgic moment. 😆😄😁

Forgive my skepticism.

I seem to remember insults, accusations of lying, and being accused of being in the sway of demons in our past conversations. And now you say you’re praying for me.

Seems pretty hypocritical to me. I don’t want any kind of ‘truth’ that comes from someone who doesn’t practice what he preaches.

So if you’re trying to convince people to go Catholic, you aren’t doing a very good job of it.

Blah blah blah.

Sorry, but the Catholics didn’t set their canon til after Luther at Trent. If anything, the Papists added books to blunt the ones they found inconvienent.

Fatuous argument is fatuous.

You have yet to demonstrate you are familiar with the "very well documented facts". Here they are (once again):

Luther's View of the Canon of Scripture

Someone was praying for you! The awesome truth is that God knew before the foundation of the world who would come unto Him and be saved.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom you also trusted, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:3-14)

Your very predictable attempt to deny reality is appreciated. In fact, if you didn't chime in with the same absurdity I'd wonder if you'd run off with Gilligan.

Tell the Howells hi.

Amen to that. I think all those Air Force guys I knew at Mountain Home were praying for me.
One of them was a ski patrolman at Mammoth Mountain. He used our mutual love for skiing, to get to know me better, and tell me the truth. None of them accused me of being in a cult. They just presented me with the truth. 🙏👍

I can see you still stubbornly refuse to even READ the facts. That was predictable. You haven't yet said one thing that refutes the documentation though it wasn't missed and is kinda humorous how you have slightly changed your rhetoric from "Luther threw out books of the Bible!" to "Luther moved some books of the Bible!".

Honestly, I don't know why you even try that canard seeing as (a) Luther is not and never was the "Pope" of Protestantism and (b) Luther never demanded anyone accept his Bible version. Luircin is correct that it wasn't until Trent that the Roman Catholic church dogmatically defined the canon to include the seven extra-biblical books. Up until then, even Catholics disagreed on the contents. You want facts for that, too? Will you read them?

Well, you are wrong in what you remember. And I'm not trying to convince anybody to become a novus ordo catholic.
