When somebody, anybody starts praying to them — and you catch sight of that, then after yourself having corrected them, drop me a line.
I have never seen anybody literally praying “to” a statue, painting, stained glass window, mosaic, illustration, photograph, video image, etc. These are, after all, inanimate objects.
If I thought somebody was doing that, I would probably admonish them.
