Believers in Messiah know that Yeshua (Jesus) has provided our atonement: for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Rom. 3:23-24). God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. Yeshua's (Jesus') death surpasses and replaces the atonement ritual of the Jewish Temple. The book of Hebrews explains the ceremonies of the Day of Atonement as a pattern of the atoning work of Messiah. Yeshua (Jesus) is our high priest, and His blood shed on Calvary is seen as symbolized in the blood of bulls and goats. As the high priest of the Old Testament entered the Holy of Holies with the blood of his sacrificial victim, so Jesus entered heaven itself to appear before the Father on behalf of His people (Heb. 9:11-12) (Killian n.d.).
The Old Testament tabernacle was designed, in part, to teach Israel that sin hindered access to the presence of God. Only the high priest, and he only once a year, could enter the Holy of Holies, and then not without taking blood offered to atone for sins (Heb. 9:7). Hebrews notes that the levitical offerings could effect only the purification of the flesh. They ceremonially cleansed the sinner, but they could not bring about inward cleansing, the prerequisite for fellowship with God. Just as the high priest had to be sinless to enter the Holy of Holies and live, so Yeshua had to be sinless to live after He entered the grave.
But Messiah being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Gee, thanks for telling us Jews all about Jesus on the eve of the holiest day of our year. Can’t you give up prostletizing for one day?
The One we love and worship was Jewish and celebrated Jewish holy days. We would miss celebrating important days if we did not look to the Jewish calendar for meaning and significance. No offense intended.
Who knows? In a couple of days you may be thanking The Ignorant Fisherman for telling you about Jesus so that you won’t take the Mark of the Beast. May Elohim keep you through the Time of Jacobs Trouble. Shalom
May your name be written in the book of life.
I don’t believe in “the Beast” (i.e. the Devil), and so cannot believe in his/it’s Mark. Thank you, though, for your kindly intended remarks. I wish you and your family a happy and healthy year ahead.
Thanks, the very same to you and all of your loved ones and friends.
You must be related to Hillary.
You think everything is all about you.
Thousands of other people read FR, besides you, that aren't Jewish.
Your welcome. Just keep this in the back of your mind, and if things start to get really weird, break open the Book of Daniel, and see if it isn’t talking to you. Then get a copy of the Letter to the Hebrews, it was written specifically for you. The veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, and yours will be too.
He is the Word Made Flesh.
Day of Atonement is one of His Days.
What He did on that day is why there was a 40 day purification law for a mother who gave birth to an Israelite boy.
What He did on that day is one reason the number 1,260 is used in the bible.
1,260 days(aka 42 months aka 3 1/2 years) after the Day of Atonement is another appointed day He taught Israel.Another important day in the life of the Word Made Flesh.
And,what He did on the Day of Atonement is the reason Israel was called to fast and afflict themselves.
Christianity and Judaism would be blessed to understand what ‘And The Word Became Flesh’ truly means.
And most are actually going to be a day early with Yom Kippur, contrary to His Word...because of rome.
which would be juicy for some anti rome christians to know-but they’d discover they are in the same boat..
All for His Glory!
I’d like the title to be changed at least. It is offensive to portray this kind of Christianity as Judaism. At least take Yom Kippur out of the title.
After the article, a reader comments:
The author here mentions in passing “Tradition states that a cord of red wool was tied to the horn of the scapegoat....” but fails to mention where that tradition may be found.
It is in the Jewish Talmud, in Yoma 39. The red wool turned white miraculously year after year until 30 AD, the year Jesus was crucified. According to the Talmud, for the remaining 40 years of the temple’s existence the red wool never turned white again.
Talk about a strong piece of evidence for Jesus being God’s Messiah! Remember the Talmud was written by Jews that did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah, and yet they give several pieces of evidence (including this one) that he was INDEED the Messiah!
I’m sure that if you thought twice about it, youI wouldn’t label it “prostletizing.” The article seems more intended for believers than non-believers.
We don't want to anger anyone, but discussing Scripture shouldn't make anyone upset, especially if you turn out to be right. Apologetic's should be part of everyone's study. If we can't uphold what we believe, then maybe we need to examine what we believe more carefully. Jesus didn't come to start a new religion, but to fulfill the Law and Prophets. Zech 12:10 was very important for me.
I love studying the history of our shared faith with the Jewish people. One day, as the prophet Zechariah said, our elder brothers and sisters will recognize and accept Jesus as their true Messiah.
"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zech. 12:10).
It’s interesting that when you get into the minutia of these feasts and types great Biblical truths are made known. I just recently discovered that while Pilate was having Christ tried in the Praetorium, in the Temple the sacrificial lamb was being examined by the high priest.
Upon his satisfaction the high priest would declare to the assembly, “I find no fault in him.” The lamb was bound to the altar at 9:00am and sacricied at 3:00pm. Upon its death the high priest would declare, “It is finished!”
A quick question.
Did a new faith or religion start when the veil of the temple rip apart?
Thank-you and God Bless.
The Messianic Light *is* the revelation of all knowledge, but as flipped over stories go, the ones claiming to have this light will have the most to learn, if they are able to learn at all.
Everybody will be receiving new information, just not in the the way people think.
In light of the upcoming holy day of Atonement, it's a good place to remember what Jesus said: “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”
The context was the crucifixion. 2000 years of false witnesses (who have been mixing truth with lies) have made this man, his soul, wholly unrecognizable.
May you have an easy fast.
My friend, many people disagree with me here at Free Republic even to the point of my core biblical beliefs but I never get offended because I am secure in my faith in Yeshua as the Scriptures clearly teach. I never have asked any to change their titles because I didnt like what it stated. Be objective and challenge what you believe. You show your insecurity by asking such a thing. There is no greater friend to the Jew then the evangelical goy who knows the Messiah of Israel.
Today is a very special day to us believers in Yeshua also as we understand what Messiah did as high priest on our behalf. Hear tbe Prophets voice and then you will see also that Yeshua is our Lamb and hight priest. Psalm 110:1, Isa 53, Zech. 12:10-14.
Shalom in Messiah
