Mark(and only the number 2000 in Mark- a clue) described it as ‘about 2,000 swine’ having demons enter them- and they end up drowning in the sea..
And in Joshua, ‘about 2,000’ cubits was the distance Israel was to stay away from the ark of the covenant while passing over into the Promised Land.

Most certainly, no one has ‘passed’ into the Promised Land yet(eternal life).everyone has died. that isn’t ‘eternal life’ if one has to die. That promise hasn’t come to pass.
In one way, the world has experienced a 40 year wilderness journey just like Physical Israel did- by a 40 year period multiplied by a 49 or 50 jubilee number in scripture.(which would equal about 2000 years)
If one follows the biblical premise of 1st the natural, then the spiritual, it starts to make sense that spiritual Israel has been on the same path physical Israel was- except on a spiritual level, not on a physical level.
There is an old testmanet and a new testament witness of ‘about 2000’-
one most certainly a measurement of ‘distance’, which is sort of what time is- a measurement..
The other ‘about 2,000’ a number of ‘swine’ (an unclean animal according to scripture’) that had demons enter them that end up driving them into the sea- a picture of death.
Since the world hasn’t seen His return, maybe His Word was always predicting about 2,000 measurements of time to pass before Israel could enter into the Promised Land-
A time (about 2000 years) where people would consume unclean teachings, doctrines of ‘unclean swine’ which are really teachings and doctrines brought to the world by demons-leading to the death of people for the last 2,000 years. even people given the promises of eternal life.
None entering the Promised Land alive for ‘about 2,000 years’, which is the promise- eternal life- that’s the promise we are to receive..
To be fair, there are some hints in scripture that another 1,000 years is due.. And hints that time would be cut short..
