Perhaps conservatism believes the ondividual, and/or the reformer, and/or the congregation, is God.
Individual Conservatives believe many things, but not that the State is god.
Libertarians come close to believing that the individual is at least the measure of all things, if not ‘god’.
For a genuine Christian, there is only one God.
