My boss, the HR Director, instructed our department to attend a gay “commitment ceremony” for two lesbians in our Street Maintenance Department. Not a chance. No way in hell. I didn’t go.

My life at work was negatively impacted until I retired which was, thankfully, only a couple more years. Not intolerable but definitely not fun.

What HR did there ("instructed our department to attend"), didn't sound legal. At all.

That’s awful. Definitely a violation of employees’ rights to do or not do what they want to on their own time off from work.
