Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Some scholars insist that refers to former Christians who have deliberately gone way and persistently over the line into overt and rebellious apostasy.
I suspect that the homosexuality issue is seen by God as a massively intense, fierce test for the Church and believers. One that the Church and most believers are largely flunking on both sides of the fence, the narrow line.
Interesting choice of words.
Have you ever witnessed a "gay" "pride" parade?
Would you attend a ceremony celebrating an adulterous relationship?
Would you attend a ceremony celebrating the opening of a meth lab?
Would you attend a ceremony celebrating the opening of an abortion facility?
Well?
Few seem able, willing to love the sinner and hate the sin in very Biblical ways, attitudes, much at all.
So, is your point that because gay pride-prancing is so outrageous—which it is—that “Christian” pride prancing is no biggy?
Stuff and nonsense, sez I. Sodomy is intrinsically disordered and evil, and surrounds itself with other disorders and evils. You know that to be true; your reaction to the sight of a "gay" "pride" parade reveals it. So cut the crap.
Not ignoring that, at all.
God considers a lot of things an abomination that the church proudly PARADES before a watching world Sonday in and Sonday out and every day of the week. Why single this issue out as such a burr in your BVD’s?
While we love the people, we cannot condone sin and at some point that means taking a stand.
There are plenty of other opportunities to show the love of Christ to those in any sinful lifestyle without participating in a way that indicates you are condoning it.
Our first priority is NOT to not offend someone. Standing for the truth sometimes will. But the offense taken is not because the Christian’s behavior is offensive, but rather because the person chose to be offended cause you didn’t agree with them.,
I will not be manipulated by accusations of not being Christian or not showing love. That is just a tactic others use to try to force behavior out of Christians that they want, thinking that Christians are going to think. *Oh no. They think I’m not loving. They think I’m not a good Christian* and getting them to compromise their values.
I will not be manipulated with liberal scare tactics and false guilt trips.
I will treat them with the same courtesy and same respect as I treat other people but will not feel obligated to participate in their sham.
Besides, since when is anyone ever obligated to go to a wedding just because they got an invitation?
Horsefeathers!
Very sad situation, and no, we do not plan on attending any gay marriages in our future (or any heterosexual marriages either in churches that approve of SS marriage and/or abortion). There are so many heartbreaking situations going on in America today, and the devil is behind all of them.
To hell with him; to hell with him quickly.
I don’t celebrate parading of any sin—whether in church or wherever. I’ve just lived long enough to know that throwing rocks as a self-righteous, haughty “believer,” is an extremely risky business—from GOD’S perspective.
Gays are blinded by satan to the insidiousness of their sin. They are also rather hopeless at changing their orientation. And the church offers relatively little umph in helping them with that. I don’t think behavior mod is all that effective or anointed in that regard. Where’s the POWER of the Holy Spirit as changed Dennis Jernigan brought to bear in behalf of those afflicted?
Similarly many pastors and congregants are utterly blinded to their insidious levels of pride, back-biting, power-politics etc. all in “Jesus’ Name.” And those sins are enormously easier to change than homosexuality.
I’m not sure which God considers a worse stench.
I mostly agree with you. Just not 100% in all cases. Exceptions seem to be one of God’s hobbies.
I'm not going to speculate on what goes on under your BVDs. I'm beginning to smell a rat, though ...
I will add this: The secular culture and some of its infiltrators in the Church demand that we celebrate sodomy and honor as heroes those who commit it. This I refuse to do. Perhaps you wish to wallow in filth with the sodomites. Perhaps you wish to tell them that they're not so bad, because some people are prideful and arrogant. Perhaps you wish to join them in their celebrations of sin.
Perhaps.
That would be a spectacularly unwise thing to do. A different course of action would seem more fitting.
Consider the meme of *I'"m a homosexual Christian* and then substitute other sins.
I'm a Christian murderer.
I'm a Christian liar.
I'm a Christian extortionist.
I'm a Christian thief.
I'm a Christian adulterer.
God just made me a murderer/liar/extortionist/thief/adulterer.
It's ridiculous to identify as our sin, which is what homosexuals do. To make our sin our identity is never going to end well.
