Pope Francis Appoints Spanish Jesuit Ladaria to Succeed Cardinal Müller
National Catholic Register ^ | July 1, 2017 | Edward Pentin

Posted on 07/01/2017 4:43:01 AM PDT by BlessedBeGod

...In a statement issued at noon today, the Vatican said the Holy Father “thanked the Most Eminent Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller at the end of his five-year mandate as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, as president of the Pontifical Commission ‘Ecclesia Dei’, and the Pontifical Biblical Commission and the International Theological Commission...”

There was no announcement of a new appointment for the German cardinal.

...rare for a cardinal prefect not to have his mandate renewed...

Born...on the island of Majorca, Spain, Archbishop Ladaria is known to be a kind, affable and theologically conservative prelate who has a special interest in patristics, the branch of theology that deals with the lives, writings, and doctrines of the early Christian theologians...

He also said does not like “extremisms, either progressive, or traditionalist ones” but believes “there is a via media” which is the “correct path to take, even if each of us has his own peculiarities, because, thanks be to God, we do not repeat, we are not clones.”

In the same interview, he underlined the role of the CDF which is first about “promoting and then, if necessary, protecting” the faith. He added that the Congregation “always moves with discretion and speaks exclusively through its acts.”

The Spanish prelate has publicly said little, if anything, about the Pope’s apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia... How he will deal with the thorny issue of interpreting the document is therefore unclear, but as a Jesuit and given his personality, he is expected to take a less disputed position than that of his predecessor...

Having a Jesuit in charge may help bring it in from the cold, but some will feel uneasy about having two members of the Society of Jesus holding the two most senior positions in the Church...

There’s nothing irreverent about calling the pro-abortion, pro-sodomy, Marxist Soros-sock-puppet in Rome “Bergoglio.”

That's it. Keep digging your Anti-Catholic hole.

So you are on first-name basis with The Pope!

FYI: Bergoglio's first name is Jorge, as is in Humble Jorge.

Thanks for the snarky response! I am quite familiar with The Pope’s names, thank you. I am also familiar with how Anti-Catholics like to irreverently refer to him.

Cardinal Oddi never proposed synods that would condone heresy and adultery. No Catholic has, until Bergoglio came along.

Well thank you for your opinion. I’m sure you have a Doctorate in Theology?

“If we speak explicitly about communion for the divorced and remarried, you do not know what a terrible mess we will make.” So, Francis told Bruno, “we don’t speak of it plainly; do it in a way that the premises are there, then I will draw out the conclusions.”

I see you avoided my question. What’s your theology degree in?

Muller admitted that he had had to correct the Pope theologically. “Pope Francis is not a 'professional theologian', but has been largely formed by his experiences in the field of the pastoral care, which is very different here with us [in the West],” he said.

Well, thank you for posting all of your PERSONAL opinions on these topics. It’s good to know you have your own PERSONAL opinions on things, and can only post links to sites with which you PERSONALLY agree.

Sad that people are so poorly educated though.

Have a nice day!

No Catholic needs a doctorate of theology to simply call heresy what it is.

How is posting Cardinal Mueller’s statement considered to be posting my personal opinion? Cardinal Mueller was Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the time he made that statement.

Doesn’t everyone have “personal opinions”?

How do you even vote in an election? Take a survey?

Is this good news or bad news?

Anything this Pope does is bad news.

Well that is a FASCINATING attitude of yours as far as the Catholic Church goes!

VERY Protestant.

The Catholic Church is NOT a democracy (GASP!). We don't all VOTE for our Bishop or even our Parish Priest.

Sorry to break it to you, but the Deposit of Faith of the Catholic Church consists of Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradition, AND the Magisterium, in conjunction with our holy Father the Pope (DOUBLE GASP!).

You can equate it to a three legged stool, with each leg having its own specific function. This three legged stool is also firmly implanted on the solid rock of the Catholic Church. See Matt 16:18, John 1:42, Eph 2:20, 1Pet 2:4-8

If the Caucus hasn't been broken by now, you just broke it here.

Why is the concept of a Caucus so difficult for you guys?

Is Cardinal Mueller not entitled to an opinion? Why don’t you afford him that chance?

Do you not even understand the purpose for the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith; and the reason Begoglio has removed him?

Ah! So in addition to a doctorate in theology (which university you have yet to disclose), you were personally involved in the Curia discussions in Rome when Müller was the topic! Please enlighten us on what transpired.

The more you call me anti-Catholic, the more you make yourself ridiculous in the eyes of any FReepers who know me.

Bergoglio, if he is Pope (the next Pope will settle that question) is the worst Pope of all time. And I say that knowing about the Popes who have been rapists and murderers.

OK; what’s you’re “personal opinion” of adulterers receiving Holy Communion while in a continuous state of mortal sin?

If you don’t have a “personal opinion”, which you seem to disdain, would you agree with Mueller and the dubia cardinals and the bishops of Poland or would you agree with Bergoglio, Kasper, Schonborn, Forte, Maradiaga, the bishops of Malta, Argentina and Germany?

Because you sure can’t agree with both groups, without being a hypocrite.
