There is nothing terrifying about God.

And who appointed you God’s messenger?

I think the reason you aren’t getting many responses is that you are doing “works”, i.e., posting to the Web, to warn people about doing “works” to achieve salvation.

Now, if you read what Jesus said, over and over again, one is saved by believing in Him, and following His Commandments. He specifically told us that the First Commandment was to love Elohim (God) and the second was to love our neighbors. He also told us that the Father would send the Holy Spirit as a Helper to help us. The last thing Jesus told us, while He was on Earth, was to go and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, which encompasses all of this.

Please re-read Matthew 5-7. There is a whole lot of “works” described therein. Jesus ends his lesson with this:

MAT7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:  MAT7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

So, it is clearly Believer then Do!

If you read the entire chapter of Leviticus 10, it is believed that Nadab and Abihu were drunk (at least tipsy) at the time they went in to perform their duties as High Priests. They offered up “unauthorized” fire which indicates that they, at the very least, were not taking their duties seriously. After Nadab and Abihu’s deaths, God issue the command to Aaron and his remaining sons not to have strong drink before going into the tent of the meeting “lest you die” (Lev 10:14). And Moses warned Aaron and his remaining sons to hold their tongues.

Nadab and Abihu’s failure is that they didn’t take their jobs seriously with reverence. They thought it was fun and games. And, if one wants a New Testament example, then simply look at Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. Poor behavior towards God are acts that may incur God’s wrath not only to those committing the act but those people who might feel sorry for the individual.

If there is a lesson we should come away with, it is that God is not to be trifled with. How many of us fail to treat God with respect?
