In making a the point the polygamy per se pales in significance compared to hatred and violence, I asked a question.The question implicitly acknowledged that matters sometimes connected to polygamy are important.
When you pointed out the location of the answer was to the question, I looked there. I said, bingo. acknowledging you point. Now you are trying to score another point. I, having demonstrated my fairness in assessing points, say no. My remark concerning quick research, pertained to the possibility of child abuse, which was brought up by third person, not to welfare abuse.
Now, as to reconciling the original reason the man was sought after (child labor), with the reason he was sought after while on the lamb (welfare abuse), possibly it’s because he couldn’t support his family while being a fugitive.
I’ll just say that welfare abuse complicates an appeal to the courts. If he allowed himself to be arrested on a child labor violation, he could have appealed the violation given recent changes in our understanding of people’s Constitutional rights to marry (equal protection). But, now with two violations, such an appeal becomes problematic.
Over the years, I have worked with people who have been victimized by the state. Men who have been treating very unfairly in support and custody cases. Tax resisters. Freedom of speech cases. My rule in these cases is only break one law at a time.
