Lancester Bishop Michael Campbell has restricted the liturgies of the Neocatechumenal Way. On July 1st, new norms come into effect. They demand that masses are celebrated at the main altar of a church. Further the priest must consume Holy Communion before distributing it to others. Finally, the Communicants are forbidden to delay consummating Holy Communion after receiving it on their hands.
In March, Archbishop Michael Byrnes of Guam issued similar norms.
I thought this was probably about Nichols doing something else bad.
I’m pleasantly surprised.
I didn’t really follow this truncated story. It seemed to start in the middle, with no foundation.
Who was it that initially imposed the “demand” on this rubrics for Holy Communion? Why was it necessary to demand something already established?
What great thing was it that this one or two bishops did that was unique?
They acted as Catholic bishops and defended the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Yes, but to appreciate the heroics it would be nice to first know the BACKGROUND for why heroics were in order.
Like.... who and what had stood in their way, in the first place?
In other word pictures, WTH were they overcoming?
Vatican City, Jan 21, 2012 / 05:15 pm (CNA).-
The Vaticans approval of the Neocatechumenal Ways forms of celebration only applies to non-liturgical prayers within their catechesis and not to the Mass or other liturgies of the Church.
With respect to the celebrations of the Holy Mass and the other liturgies of the Church, communities of the Neocatechumenal Way must follow the norms of the Church as indicated in the liturgical books to do otherwise must be understood to be a liturgical abuse, a Vatican official who requested anonymity told CNA on Jan. 2
I had never heard of the Neocatechumenal Way Liturgy.
The four lines of the Gloria TV source trying to parade as an informative exercise was a flop for the ignorant reader.
The CNA source proved quite dependent on an un-named Vatican official, was wordier, but no more informative, unless dear reader already had a clue what they were talking about.
But I do thank you for trying. We do however share another something in common— impatience. :D Thanks, ebb tide.
I apologize, I had assumed you were familiar with it.
Here's a little bit more information on the wingnuts:
