OK... so none of the congregants read the Bible themselves and thought this behavior was a little... weird?
I live in the bible belt. A local pastor said that when he was hired on at a church he was shocked to find out that elderly members there that had been faithful attenders for decades did not know the difference between the old and new testaments.
