Priests were originally able to be married.
Orthodox Priests are able to marry. It works fine

The Catholic Church already has married priests (Eastern Rite and Anglican Rite both in communion with Rome, and probably other small Oriental rites I am not aware of). The first Pope was married, and IIRC, his wife also martyred in Rome.
