Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Many churches these days, do a lot of boasting about themselves, how great their service is, how wonderful their Pastor is or how superior their music is compared to others. Most of the time, they're exalting fools who have little or no regard for the word of God. They say, "Come to our service and you'll get a great psychology lesson and we'll even assign you a life coach" or " We'll give you some positive mental images, and you can listen to our rock & roll band as you sip expresso in the coffee shop."
Isaiah 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
Since the cannon of scripture is complete, a prophet today is someone who explains or communicates what God has already proclaimed in His word,"and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet"(Exodus 7:1b). Unfortunately, those responsible for upholding the Bible in modern churches, have closed their eyes and ears to the truth of God's word. They go about trying to establish their own righteousness and have strayed from Christianity into "our churchianity." It's very evident in scripture that God does not accept our boasting or self-righteousness.
Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Is it any wonder that fewer than 24% of Americans now believe the Bible is the actual word of God.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
