We sang that in church yesterday. Nothing like the old hymns — chock full of theology.

Doctrinal, perhaps, but unnecessary unbiblical exagerated grotesque imagery. A water fountain in the Town Square, filled with blood drawn directly from Jesus veins, that people will go take a bath in, really?
There is no doubt that his blood washed away our sins, and salvation is granted to us through the gift of faith.
It is much more biblical to sing of a cup filled with his blood that we must drink, but I doubt any Protestant would proudly join that chorus.
